Small square lock-lock box. Watch for cow chips.
Less than two miles west of the Ludlow Monument, a sad tale is told by a lone marker nestled in the weeds. The Victor American Mine Disaster was a fire at the Victor American Fuel Company coal mine in Hastings, Colorado, on April 27, 1917, in which 121 people died. Hastings, Colorado was a coal mining town that became a ghost town after the disaster. After a time, nothing remained except for the coke ovens and a few remnants of building foundations.

Since my last name is Hastings, I thought this would be an interesting site to visit. You can learn more by going to google and putting in Victor American Hastings Mine Disaster. The cache container is a small square lock-lock box that contains a few swag items and a money clip with a $1 bill for the FTF.
Congratulations to gjsikma, Vulcan64, AussieCacher, and Clubmus for being FTF.

A little fun on the way from Tucson to Denver. Thanks for placing these caches to break up the trip. We probably wouldn't have found our way to this if we hadn't decided to look at the Ludlow Massacre site. So we learned two new historic facts. Thanks.

After a stop at the Ludlow Memorial, loneranger continued down the road to make a quick find here and drop a TB. Did a little maintenance to improve cache concealment as it was a bit visible. Another interesting bit of Colorado history, TFTC
