Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Cousin Eddie -played by Randy Quaid - was one of the most memorable characters in The Vacation movie franchise of the 1980s. The lovable goof, with the steel plate in his head and a heart as big as the World's Second Largest Ball of Twine (only four short hours away!) lived on a western Kansas farm, in the movie. But in real life, that old homestead is here in Pueblo County, Colorado!
This is the first, in what I hope will be a series of geocaches marking the filming locations for the Vacation movie in Colorado. This was some old-school filmmaking, the cast and crew crossed this great land, filming scenes on location (even Christie Brinkley tagged along for much of the trip). At least a half-dozen scenes were shot in Colorado, from Pueblo in the east, to Durango in the west.
The geocache is not right in front of the house, because I wanted to respect the owner's privacy. Rather it is down Apple Road, about a half-mile east. You can see it from the geocache, which is on the highway right-of-way.
