Small cache located in a lovely hillside stand of Limber pine. Located about 1/2 mile from Brown's Lake Trailhead.
As a younger man I spent a good amount of time studying and working in the forests of the Rocky Mountains. The Limber Pine was and still is perhaps my favorite tree in the region. The species is a bit of an oddball here in Colorado. Unlike ponderosa, lodgepole, and spuce/fir there are no large forest made up of this tree species. It is commonly located in rockier areas in the middle of spruce fir or lodgepole forests. The tree at this particular location has an almost ancient feel to it similar to a bristlecone pine. This is a beautiful area and I would encourage everyone to make the hike to Crown Point (about 2 miles from trailhead) and if your feeling really good go all the way to Brown's Lake.
So enjoy the hike, the trees, and the cache. This is a small one but it should not be difficult to spot. Bring your own pen please. Please remember to tread lightly and leave no trace.
