This cache offers a 4x4 "high" and views to kill. It's one of my favorite little known 4WD roads. If you have a fear of heights then this one is not for you.
Drive to Montezuma, CO and take the first left from the dirt road (not where pavement ends). Once thru the town you will be on the FDR264 road that goes thru some private land. (Stay on the road in this area). 4-wheel all the way to the Continental Divide. The faint of heart can park on the north side of the Peak and hike the rest of the way. The more adventuresome can drive right to the cache. Full size rigs in my 4x4 club have driven (very carefully) right to the cache. (Large parking area)

The road is not technically hard but has a pucker factor of 5 stars. Experienced drivers will find it an easy but exciting 4x4 road. CA4WDCI road rating of 4

Please cover the cache well before leaving and be sure to check out the other great 4x4 roads in the Montezuma area!

This one has been on our wish list since we started working on the highest geocaches in Colorad puzzle cache. We finally made it up today by hiking up the very convenient road. Found with Java Chip and new four-legged friend Monty.

Had a fun day jeeping and hiking with WingsAndTales. She had already logged this cache some time ago, so it was awesome that she drove me up here in her XTerra. That is quite a road up the mountain. Tftc!

Wow, an ammo can! Gotta love it! My Aunt and I hit Santa Fe peaks and Sullivan Peak today, and grabbed three caches along the way. This was her first geocaching experience. The weather was perfect, as was the scenery. Everything is in great shape, especially since it's been a while since anyone has found it. Very interesting geoswag!

Beautiful spot! I could see many of the places I've been to recently including the Deer Creek jeep trail, Grays Peak and Square Top. A favorite for the location - and the ammo can! TFTC!

Caching on 13ers combines my 2 favorite pastimes! Found this and the other two caches on Santa Fe Peak then went South to climb Sullivan Mtn and Geneva Peak. Great views on a beautiful morning - what more could one want? Cheers.

A nice, quick find after a great hike from the mine ruins in one of the pictures on this page. I probably could have driven higher, but it was a nice hike from there. I'd driven over Webster Pass last summer, and climbed Red Cone and saw Santa Fe Peak from there. No time to do it that day, so I grabbed the opportunity today, the first day of a short in-state vacation weekend. Great hike, awesome views, perfect weather. A favorite point for sure. I liberated a Cameltrekor wooden nickel, but otherwise, TNLNSL. Thanks!

What a drive this was! It was windy and cold above the treeline. Winter is closing fast although I got to enjoy the fall colors today. TFTC!
