Nice 2-mile drive along Stevens Creek. Access to cache through State Wildlife land is only open from July 1 until November 30. Dirt car road is rough in spots -- good for SUV's, but a little rough on cars. Very short rocky hike to the cache. Wear good hiking shoes.
Stevens Creek is named for A.K. Stevens, an early settler and cattle-rancher of the 1870's. His ranch is now under the water of Blue Mesa Reservoir. On the way back down the creek road to the highway, there are some very nice views of the reservoir and the mountains to the south.

This cache is one of several caches around Blue Mesa Reservoir. The cache is in a clear plastic box with a green rim.

***Hunting Season Advisory***
Hunting seasons in Colorado are in September and October. If you venture out during hunting season, be sure to wear some blaze orange and be noisy.

Staying in a near by campground and out doing some site seeing and of course picking up some caches along with John4x4 and AZ4x4s. This higher altitude is a bit of a challenge for someone from closer to sea leavel, but still doable. Thanks for the smiley face.
