Scenic view

Near the Eye of the Needle Tunnel which if it weren't closed would be a great 4 wheel drive route from the front range to the Winter park area. Until then it's at the end of a fantstic Dead End Drive!
This construction themed cache was placed on labor day, Sept 3rd, 2007 and is a tribute to the inginuity, technology, and just plain hardwork of the people who build the roads that have brought me to some of the greatest places I know. It is also a futile hope that one day a real construction crew would reopen the Eye of the Needle Tunnel. The cache is NOT in the tunnel, it is closed and should not be ventured into. There is an extensive group of stone stuctures just above the tunnel. The cache is hidden somewhere in this complex. The cache is best accessed from the east via the rollins pass road and walking from the road closed sign. The road is passable for the average passenger car but very rough so be prepared to go slow making the trip up quite long.

Construction themed swag preferred but the crew doesn't mind reminders of home at such a remote site.

Owner Maintenance 09/05/2016 By Clearwatercajun
Placed on Labor Day, so a Labor Day maintenance visit just felt right. Walked over the "hill" to check out the trestles then checked the hide on my way back to the truck. Fantastic day above treeline...all seems well with the cache. Happy hunting y'all.

This road has been on my bucket list for a long time. Got up early today and took the mountain bike for an epic ride. Stopped to grab this cache. Interesting shelter structures. Thanks!

I parked at the "parking lot" on the east side. I walked to the needle eye tunnel and over to the other side. This cache had everything I could want in a cache. It has everything, a great hike, great views, a great history and I was able to experience it alone. For a while anyway. It was windy, but I will camp up here soon. I dont give out favorites easily, this is my second.

This Cache is about a 5/5 if you come in the way we did. We parked at Yankee Doodle and walked straight up to the road about a 967ft elevation gain from the truck to the road, on slippery rocks and a little snow. Yes the road from yankee doodle to Jenny Lake is still snow blocked on the 4th of July. on our way to the tunnel we met some folks that had just walked 100 yards from their car. I wish we would have know about that road. Loved the area and want to take the wife and kidos (from the easy route.) TFTC Sapper489

Write note 10/11/2014 By Tech Hiker
I was just thinking about this cache and decided I should write a note. Better late than never. :) I was up there in 2008 and regret not finding the cache. I had to call off the search about as quickly as I started it because of threatening weather approaching. Lots of potential hiding places so I knew it would take me a while. Just wanted to let you know I was real close. :) I know it's not in the tunnel but that's the closest picture I have. Maybe I'll give it another try some day.
Don't look in the tunnel

Lots of people out enjoying Rollins Pass, so I had to be somewhat sneaky looking for the cache. Loved the view from the cache location. Would love to know more about the structures. TNLNSL TFTC Cool

Wanted to come camp up here last year but was voted down in favor of camping Kenosha pass and going to Breckenridge for Oktoberfest. Not this year, I came from MO early to camp this area so I can come back and still go to Oktoberfest. Cache in good shape and well hidden. TFTC.
