We are having a blast bringing back the "Let's Go For A Hike" Event series.  This series of geocaching events was started by famed Colorado Geocaching family Memfis Mafia. It's a great excuse to go out and explore a new area while meeting up with some of the coolest people - Geocachers!! The event will take place at the POSTED COORDINATES from 1:00PM to 1:45PM on Saturday September 1st. Get there however you can, and plan adequate travel time!

Let's go! Nice Boulders!

For those whom aren't familiar with the LGFAH geocaching events, this will be a Meet and Greet style event. We will swap geocaching stories, trade and discover trackables, and just get to know one another.

There is a twist: This event isn't in some comfy coffee shop or a busy restaurant. The event is at a cool boulder formation at 8,485 feet!

There are a few different hiking trails and loops that you can take to get to this event, and all of them involve hiking from the visitor's center of Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument (parking coordinates listed on this cache page).  The most direct loop is about 3 miles, and all of the hiking routes from the visitor's center are not too strenuous, many taking us back in time with petrified wood and fossils.

Hiking in the Rain

Don't forget! You are outside in Colorado. Be prepared for whatever mother nature might throw at us! I will try to make announcements closer to the event date regarding predicted condtitions, however you should always be prepared for anything.

See you at the boulders!

I'd be interested in attending this one. Would it be a relatively easy hike for someone who has never hiked in the mountains before?
