Named after an old cd by my favorite band Hot Tuna. About half way between Big Ol Juniper and Bowling Alley View, thought you'd like a stop along the way. You will need a high clearance vehicle to get up the JQS trail from Hwy 13. Park at the top of the first steep hill where you see the sign, and head south. Enjoy the hike! As always up here, bring water.
The second in my history of rock series. Hot Tuna is made up of two musicians, Jorma Kaukonen (pronounced your-mu) and Jack Cassidy. They are both original members of The Jefferson Airplane and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. They both had a love of Piedmont Blues (aka East Coast Blues, aka finger pickin blues) and split from the Jefferson Airplane in the 1972 to officailly form Hot Tuna, they had recorded their first album in 1969. Over the years they have been joined by many other musicians that come and go. Most noteably Papa John Creech, who played blues fiddle. But the band consists of Jorma on guitar and Jack on bass. Jorma has a guitar school in Ohio that he runs with his wife, and puts out solo work in addition to Hot Tuna recordings. So give Jorma, Jack and Hot Tuna a listen, besides acoustic music they've also put out some rockin' blues over the years. The band motto is " If you don't know Jorma, you don't know Jack"
