Easy drive over bridge at north end of HWY 149. Short, hard, steep & rocky hike uphill to the cache. No trail. It's easier to zig-zag than to go straight up and down the hill! Wear good hiking shoes. Be aware of cactus. Elevation at cache: 7780'
Locals refer to this bridge as the "Lake City Bridge", because it is the main route to Lake City which is 60 miles away. The bridge crosses the Gunnison River at the upper end of Blue Mesa Reservoir. The true goal of this geocache is the "Lake City Bridge Overlook" viewpoint (see additional waypoint chart below). From this point, you can see the bridge, the Gunnison River Canyon and the reservoir. The cache could not be hidden at this spectacular point, because it's on NPS land. The cache is 100' away, on BLM land.

Park at south end of bridge. To get to the cache, you'll have to cross a fence, maybe two, depending on which route you take. There are easy places to cross, you just have to find them. It's all public land on either side of the fences, (NPS and BLM), so you're OK!

This cache is one of several caches around Blue Mesa Reservoir. The cache is in a clear plastic box with a green rim.

***Hunting Season Advisory***

Good afternoon all you cachers out there. I'm logging this cache after much hiking in 83 degree weather okay that means it's too hot!!! I would not rate this terrain what it is, I would definitely say this is a five. Anyway we found it and now we have grid 68 on the Delorme challenge. Anyway thanks for the hide, I think. Anyway I might thank you again after I cool off.

Beautiful day to overdo it on a cache. I can’t agree with the terrain rate— definitely a 4.5. Thanks for the hint and the find.

7/16/18. This was a hard climb on a hot day. Picked the wrong pole first which added to the challenge. Found it though. Tftc
