Thanks for the cache and for pointing out the great view. Never would have come up here without caching. Drove up to the saddle in my wife's Saturn sedan. Clearance wasn't quite enough for the drainage mounds on the road, but we did alright. Loved the walk and the view. Was definitely windy today. Found the cache in good condition and left a TB. Our dog really enjoyed the walk too. She has had lots of car time while we take the scenic route back from Creede to Fort Collins.

I picked this one up while in the local area during the end of the June transition month for what I called the "Freeze and Fry Run"...snivel cold at night and in the morning, sun beating hot in the afternoon. I had to go to Cortez, CO to pick up some old friends from New Jersey to act as their tour guide while enroute to DIA. Of course, I was trying to hike and pick up a few caches before they arrived. I decided to give this one a try because it looked fun, had a decent D/T rating, and was one year lonely. Although it wasn't hard to figure out how to navigate to GZ, I appreciate that the CO took the time to add some directions to the cache description...a rarity for caches in this area. I was really impressed with Blaine Rock, I wasn't prepared to see something like that and thought it was super cool. Unfortunately, the cache was a bugger to find and was a tough hunt for me with a bit of drama. At some point, I thought it was a good idea to do a detailed search inside a significant "rock crack." The crack served as a great wind funnel, forcing me to take my hat off and consistently blowing my shirt half way over my head. I'm glad I was alone today so that I didn't have one of my friends laughing at me and taking pictures for the internet to enjoy; I truly presented a goofy sight trying to squeeze through the rock with my shirt blowing into my face. Essentially hunting bare torso, I have some nice scrapes to remind me of the hunt. I was literally prepared throw in the towel as I realized I was now checking over the same spots for a third time when I finally spied the container. I must have walked right by it 4 or 5 times...such is geocaching. I was grateful to finally sign off on the log and move out to my next hunt as daylight started to fade. Despite the drama I enjoyed the view and the cache. Thanks to the CO for placing this nice cache for everyone to find, TFTC.
With this find, I now have (counting only 1 year or more lonely) a total of 78 years, 11 months lonely time on 45 caches from 11 North American States & Provinces.

I am working on getting requirements for the Rocks Challenge (GC3MDRG) that is close to my home, and this cache counts for that. Found this with with geoteacherdrew and my 17 year old grandson. Great scenery and location. Nice cache, too. I did not have my box of swag with me, so took nothing, but left a pair of pink rubber flip flop erasers and a spare refill for the Zebra pen that is in the cache. Thanks for the fun.
