Can confirm that the section of trail that this cache was on has been rerouted. Old trail is closed for sustainability, don't go on it.

The cache IS on the South Mt.Elbert trail. However, this part of the trail is currently not accessible because of trail restoration (there's a marked detour). There's no way to (legally) access the cache for the time being. Maybe the CO wants to disable the listing temporarily.

This is not on the South Elbert Trail. I think it must be on the East Ridge Trail. At least as far as I can tell from the coordinates relative to where I hiked today.

Tftc Found it during big geotrip to USA ,CANADA,MEXIKOwit Jonea,Marci.We loget Moravia Team or MT.Thanks for nice cache from Czech Republic ŠINDY Dik za pekné keše pri ceste napríc USA Cílem výpravy je projet a odlovit 48 státu+Mexiko a Kanadu.Prioritou jsou odlov virtuálních keší a stopa naší výpravy po 50 kilometrech .Chceme navštívit 44 Národních parku ,4nejvyšší hory USA.Trešnickou na výprave bude odlov trailu v Californii+Nevade slavné Rote66,Hell1+2,Et1+2a další prilehlé keše na trase 5000mil,celkem najefeme pres 30000mil ,projedeme tisíce galonu benzinu a vypijeme i tolik vody pri teplotáchkolem 100F.Je to první zbesilá výprava takového rozsahu a proto dik i za tu nejmenší keš kterou najdeme dík za keše ŠINDY

This cache was placed in 2004! I walked right by it when I did this route up to Elbert in 2014 with WingsAndTales. I'm thinking that we must have agreed to get it on our way back as we needed to be at the top by a certain time. On the way down we met with bad weather...at least that's my excuse. WingsAndTales would have never ignored this cache. Lots of tents in the area. We tiptoed past them only to find out the inhabitants (Boy Scouts) were ahead of us. Nice camping area. Thanks for the cache.

Headed up Mt. Elbert with estes01 in search of another cache near the top. This is my fourth time up - once from each of the standard trailheads -- North Elbert, South Elbert, Black Cloud, and Echo Canyon. It was great to see an ammo can - too few of those anymore. TFTC!
