Coordinates will take you to the visitor center and general store of Gothic, Colorado. Please note the road is closed in the winter.

Gothic started as a silver mining town in 1879. During its heyday there were 200 buildings and many famous visitors, including Ulysses S. Grant. After the silver crash of 1893, the townsite was nearly abandoned. In 1928, the land was purchased by Dr. John Johnson and the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory was founded, where professors and students study high-altitude ecosystems during summer months. Tours through the townsite are offered at 11am and 2pm daily.

Found it and then went on to hike Judd falls. What a beautiful area.

Beautiful area. Enjoyed a picnic lunch here in front of the old Town Hall. Then it was off to hike to Judd Falls. Thanks for the virtual and bringing us here to learn more about this spectacular area! Got my hat in the picture Cool

Found it, I’ve never done a virtual before so hopefully I’m doing it right. If I did get this FTF correct and it’s also an FTF virtual for me too. And it’s also my birthday so that would be really awesome to have this FTF today. But like the bumper sticker on my van says in my picture I’m submitting, never waste a nice day and I am certainly not wasting a nice day today. Tftc
