To get to this cache, It will be a 3 to 4 mile hike in pingree park this is also a great place to backpack or make the 12.5 mile roundtrip day hike up to emaline lake, just at treeline. I came upon the cabin while scavenging for wood one night, and I thought, What an great place for a geocache! This may have been a trappers cabin or a seasonal cabin from a quite long time ago.

The trail to the camp sites was an old jeep trail. If your plan is to go to emaline lake, beware the 1500 foot elevation gain. original contents: 3 stormproof matches, a flyfishing fly. please replace securely, due to no travelers in the winter.

Found with Boy Scouts on a 2-week backpacking trip from Iowa. Nice and easy.

Thanks for leading us to this cool spot! We spent a couple nights camping at the meadow with a hike up to Emmaline lake in between. Had the place to ourselves Thursday and Friday, with a lot of people hiking up on Saturday while we were headed down. The weather was great, the hike and the views were great, the mosquitoes were horrible. Glad we brought bug spray.

We found the cache in the morning before heading up to the lakes. We started out going straight towards GZ from our camp, and I was starting to wonder why someone would put a cache so deep in the thick of the woods, when we came across the nice easy trail that led us the rest of the way there. The cabin was interesting and we found the cache easily. The container took on water over the winter, and the log was quite wet and a little moldy. Dried it in the sun and was able to sign. It would probably benefit from a more waterproof container. Thanks for hiding it here though!

I was hoping to use this first day of the Labor Day Weekend for a nice hike, so I "investigated" possible trails that might have interesting geocaches that I haven't found. I noted that the Cirque Meadows approach had a new cache--one that I could hike to with my Puppy Orizaba that also provided a chance, with a serious "extension", for me to check on my Golgotha cache.

So with an early morning start from Wellington, we drove to the trailhead and started the nice hike to an area I've been to many times in the past for some climbs of RMNP and Comanche Peak Wilderness summits. We hiked in lovely, early-morning coolness and saw no one else on the trail during our approach to the Pine Campground area. The big surprise was finding only a single tent in this excellent dispersed camping area on this special weekend! I had expected many...From the camping area we continued to the coordinates and quickly found this nice cache. I signed the cache log in the initial position, pleased to have the {FTF} on it. The cache and its three matchsticks are in perfect condition.

On the hike out, we encountered many parties hiking to Emmaline Lake and other destinations.

Thanks for the cache and the backcountry experience, 77Carter77!
