The first of a series of caches planned to be hidden at or near the historic rural schoolhouses of Routt County - beginning in West Routt!
Foidel Canyon Schoolhouse -- loacated just ½ mile southwest of here -- look toward the coal mine -- was added to the National Register of Historic Places in May 1983. Routt County School District #27 - Established in 1891 -- The first building was built in 1913 - prior to that, classes were held at the Joseph Long Ranch or students attended Eddy, Pinnacle or Oak Creek Schools.. This building was built on the original site in 1925. It closed in 1957. It is currently being restored for use for community gatherings.
This cache MAY be accessible in the winter - but would depend on if/how the lot was plowed. It is in a rest stop on Peabody Land, but is accessible by anyone and everyone! Please respect the area!
Cache is a vitamin bottle - camouflaged - BYOP -- contains log and a few small tradeables.
