On your way DOWN from the Pikes Peak Summit you have to get your brake temperature checked to ensure your brakes aren't overheating. If they are, you are strongly encouraged to let your brakes cool for 30 minutes or so. What to do during that time? How about getting a cache! 

 

At the posted coordinates there is NO CONTAINER. However, there IS a sign to indicate the temperature they are measuring for. This sign will be visible even if there's no one checking your brakes. 

 

If the temperature threshold is 250 degrees, the final is at N38 52.539 W105 04.480

If the temperature threshold is 300 degrees, the final is at  N38 52.582 W105 04.463

If the temperature threshold is 350 degrees, the final is at N38 52.641 W105 04.445

I'm not one to brag but I will say that this cache is here because of me :) Ha! I was driving my Ford Explorer up to Pikes Peak for Benj59's event last month (which was awesome) and on the way down, my brakes were feeling the pressure. I could smell them before we got to the check point and the ranger was like "oh yeah, your breaks are angry!" So we had to pull over for a half hour. Benj then got the idea to place a cache out here while we waited, which was such a great idea since there wasn't any here previously. I was one of the ones who had my name as a test but now I can finally log now that someone else has claimed FTF. Glad there's a cache at this spot and that it's a multi. Thanks Benj for putting this hear and thank you to my brakes for making us stop here :)

After a long, fun filled day on Pikes Peak, we stopped and had our brakes checked; we passed with flying colors. Then we proceeded to this recently published multi. It didn't take long for R&B CO to spot this one. We, R&B CO, Berb57, Kenyasherpa, Hartsdale and myself, all signed the log on our last Peak cache of the day. Thanks for the geo-fun.

I was looking for a reason to head up Pikes Peak again to get some more caches on my list and a CITO event at summit is the perfect one. The weather was predicted as great, and it was. This was published after my last trip up so it was a fun stop after we passed the brake test and got the info needed for the final. Thanks to benj59 for the new multi.

When you find the log - you will see a couple of signatures. These were beta testers on the hide. FTF is still up for grabs!!
