"The Ambulance" GC10VE0 by cacheclique once "hid" at this exact location with the following description - "(BYOP & TOTT) Make sure to read the nearby plaque. There is no need to disassemble or deface any part of the item. The cache is difficult to locate but easy to remove." ***
*** this is a diabolical understatement as it had 44 DNFs vs 102 finds over its 12 year run. We bet there were many more DNFs that were never logged as it is within feet of major Hwy 50 with good access, easy on/off, and lots of good parking around it. It is fun and well worth reading through the old logs, and you will quickly learn that MOST finds were on 2nd or 3rd try, MANY with a PAF
We made our initial "search" for it on 6/25/14 and made the following log - " OUCH! hate to log a DNF but spent over an hour looking this thing over, had more fun figuring out the engineering than looking for the cache. We will need some help on this one." (we had only 250*/- finds at the time)
A few days later we made the following log - "OUCH ouch! Ashamed of ourselves for not finding this the first time - and then to go beg for help? Badgerites gave us a very circular hint that got us steered in the right direction and found that hard headed little bugger almost instantly on arrival - talk about hidden in plain sight! Made the initial search way to hard and missed the obvious! I must have looked right AT it a half dozen times and did not see it." (MANY logs are very similar to this one)

Now that we have aroused your geo interest Above, we want to arouse your interest with the actual item under consideration BELOW! (NO! Not the cache! - THE AMBULANCE!) You must go see it and read the historical signage at the site. After having found it we have logged it a number of times with visiting family and friends AND using it on several occasions as a teaching tool for newbies - and just had to bring it back out for another run! For you local old timers you will find the cache hidden exactly as previously, and newcomers will find it hidden exactly as deviously. We hope you have as much fun (& despair) enjoying the AMBULANCE (& cache) as we did! - Please leave a FAV point if deserving.

p.s. As an "engineer, mechanic, general contractor" I just have to clear up one misconception. In the old logs you will often find reference to a "steering wheel." Trains do not need to be 'steered,' they follow the tracks! DA! What you are seeing is the "Hand Brake" like which used to be highly visible on the rear platform on old rail cars - long gone with the advent of modern air brakes. The massive 'Rotary switches' at left of the TINY seat was the speed control - more contacts closed, more speed. Batteries were below the deck with a massive DC motor between the drive wheels - look! WE DID!
FTF by jake92 - we were NOT suprised! Runner up goes to Denver1531 who just missed it!
