These switchbacks on Devils Gulch Road descend from the top of route 43 (overlooking Estes Park) to the quaint town of Glen Haven. Short uphill climb from the parking spot. Great perspective on the switchbacks!
These are 'double' switchbacks. The cache is alongside the lower switchback. Drive carefully! Deceptively steep and sharp curves. I have provided a photo of a truck that did not quite make the turn in time! Cyclists often climb the hill from just below the switchbacks to the top of route 43 (Devils Gulch Road). The road climbs almost 600 feet in about 1.3 miles, for an average grade of over 8%. Burst your lungs and burn your legs. If you do continue to Glen Haven below, alongside the North Fork, then you might consider suggesting more nicknames for this little town. Some of my nicknames are: Glen 'Heaven' Haven, Glen 'Hiker' Haven, Glen 'Grandeur' Haven, Glen 'Hobert' Haven, Glen 'Happy' Haven. Enjoy!
