People think they know all about Medusa - yeah, she got cursed into a monster and turned people to stone and had snakes for hair and then was killed. Sometimes a particular story becomes so dominant, that the truth within a story is lost. The myth of Medusa could be one of thsoe stories told so many times wrongly, but still becoming a long fab in our society. Recent discoveries in Limbaugh Canyon, Colorado have led to doubts in Medusa's legend, and it is your job to search for clues that could lead to the remaking of history, that Medusa's tale might end in a different way. It will be dangerous and your life could be on the line, as Medusa can turn you to stone with one look. Beware!

The cache is a fairly short 4-stage multicache in Limbaugh Canyon. Should not take too long, but I would plan for 2 hours beginning to end. Plan for longer so you can find all the other cool cache in the area, and plan enven longer so that you can place your own cache further up the canyon for others to find! This is such a cool area up here I thought it could use a multi. Bring good shoes, food, water, and the dog! Little kids might have a tough time getting to some of the stages here, but if they can generally climb hills and bushwack a bit, they should be fine.

As for routing, park at the parking waypoint listed (make sure you have directions just to get that far) VIRGINIA STREET IS ONE-WAY on the nothern half, plan accordingly! The trail starts through a big metal gate and past a cabin that is owned by the Forest Service. It is legal to walk on the trail there. Once you find the first stage, there are two ways to get to the next. Going east on the trail (the flatter side) is easier, though it is longer. But it will take you to the right place. Going southwest on the trail (the uphill side) is tougher, though it is shorter. This side is very scenic, and you come across a neat waterfall around GC3X68V. Once at the waterfall, the main trail appears to dead end, but there is a vertical trail that you can climb (and I mean climb) up to the trail you need. Once there, the trail remains fairly flat and visible.

Be sure to check out other caches around here along the way, such as:

"66% Inspiration, 100% Perspiration" by ernie66 -- GCYATX

"How the Leopard Got its Spots" by bradleyharmon -- GC3X68V

"V" by Spivey -- GC174JD

"The Wood-Pile" by Tom.Dog -- GC53PG2 (which ends here).

As always, good luck, expect a few twists, beware of Medusa, and have fun!!

Hey friends!

As some of you may know, I currently live in Boulder, CO, and as I get older and more adult-ish, my trips to the Springs become shorter, fewer, and farther between. As I apply to medical schools in the coming year, my future is a bit uncertain. Unfortunately, maintaining some of these caches that I spent so much time developing when I was younger is getting difficult. I would hate to see my multicaches lost, so if anyone is interested in maintaining this cache (or any of my others), please send me a message and I can write you a full, detailed description of the stages. Thanks so much, and cache on!

This was yet another fun cache put out by brennan7. We're very lucky to have some one like him placing caches in our community! We decided to finish this one while we were exploring a a few new trails in the area! This one gets a favorite from us! TFTC!

We started this multi back in August 2017. Had a little trouble with stage 2, but the CO was kind enough to give us some help. Went out today to find stages 3 and 4 (final). Both stages were clever and fun, typical for a Brennan7 cache. Signed log and replaced everything as it should be. Thanks to Brennan7 for another fun, challenging cache. Find #4600 for us and day #873 of our streak.

Coordinates changed from:

Coordinates changed to:
N 39° 6.470 W 104° 55.544

Distance from original: 18.7 feet or 5.7 meters.

Replaced stage 1 since I couldn't find the original. Also moved it slightly, just to the other side of the drain. Its in those rocks at the bottom literally right next to the drain.

I got a report that the first stage could be missing. I'll get over there ASAP to check it out. In the meantime, contact me if youre gonna go after it and I can give you the necessary info for stage 2.

This cache is now a premium-member only cache. Unfortunately, after having to replace all of my geocaches every year (except "Slender," which until now was my only premium cache), I've decided to make this cache exclusive to the people who are here to geocache for real. I take pride in hiding exciting geocaches that are different and fun to find, but I am forced to trust that people will handle the cache the right way. I understand that most people are good geocachers and follow the rules, but it really makes me mad when things are completely taken apart, not put back correctly, or flat-out destroyed because someone doesn't want to take the time to solve a puzzle or get a clue. I am sorry for this, but this has to be the way it is going to be from now on. It is too time consuming and expensive to fix all of my geocaches every year.
