FTF - Congratulations to WingsAndTales and Kenyansherpa!
This is a tribute to RDAD because he doesn't want one, but deserves one.
The Tenmile Range has ten numbered peaks, with Peak 10 being the highest at 13,633 feet. Peak 10 offers wonderful views of the rest of the Tenmile Range and the Gore Range to the north, the Mosquito Range to the south, and the Front Range to the east.
My son and I drove to the top using the road that starts behind the Breckenridge stables and parked at the weather monitoring station near the summit (see waypoints). How far you can drive depends on your vehicle - 4WD is necessary to reach the top and there are several pulloffs at points along the way for 2WD vehicles. Other routes include the Wheeler Trail from either Copper Mountain or Spruce Creek, and traversing the ridgetop from either Crystal Peak or Peak 9. See route map in the gallery. The rating reflects a summer hiking route, but it may be more or less difficult depending on your approach and the season.
*Note: According to WingsAndTales, it's not a good idea to descend the north side of Peak 10 in order to get to Peak 9 – it's steep and the rocks are very loose. She suggests going back down the Peak 10 road until you are below 12,700 and then heading over to Peak 9.

The road leaves the ski area at this point and gets much rougher. Drivers of 2WD vehicles with average clearance may want to pull off here and park. The hike from here is about 6 miles round trip. Some vehicles may be able to continue a little farther.
