E = mc2

E = mc2  expresses the fact that mass and energy are the same physical entity and can be changed into each other. In the equation, the increased relativistic mass (m) of a body times the speed of light squared (c2) is equal to the kinetic energy (E) of that body.  And in nuclear fission and fusion, the amount of energy released is equal to the difference in mass before and after the fission or fusion, times the speed of light squared.

The theory of relativity usually encompasses two interrelated physics theories: special relativity and general relativity, proposed and published in 1905 and 1915, respectively. Special relativity applies to all physical phenomena in the absence of gravity. General relativity explains the law of gravitation and its relation to the forces of nature. It applies to the cosmological and astrophysical realm, including astronomy.

The theory transformed theoretical physics and astronomy during the 20th century, superseding a 200-year-old theory of mechanics created primarily by Isaac Newton. It introduced concepts including 4-dimensional spacetime as a unified entity of space and time, relativity of simultaneity, kinematic and gravitational time dilation, and length contraction. In the field of physics, relativity improved the science of elementary particles and their fundamental interactions, along with ushering in the nuclear age. With relativity, cosmology and astrophysics predicted extraordinary astronomical phenomena such as neutron stars, black holes, and gravitational waves.

OK, you got all that?  Now let's explain why this cache talks about this stuff:

I received the matchstick container from Ernie as part of the free giveaway at his Enjoy ernie66's extra easy epic external event eh? (GCAV9VP) on August 5th -- thanks Ernie !

That makes this an Ernie matchstick container cache -- or Emcc, or Emc2 and I just put the = sign in there to make it E = mc2

When you get to the posted coordinates, look around and you will see another way this is relevant to this cache description.

Good luck !

Congratulations to Frisby24 on his first ever FTF !
