We solved this puzzle several years ago but have never taken the time to look for the cache. Today we were hiking along the Stanley Canyon Trail and decided to detour to the north to look for this cache and the final of a multi that we started last month while hiking up Eagle Peak Trail. We found the container pretty quickly, signed the log and replaced the container as found. The view of the Air Force Academy was impressive. Thanks for bringing us up here.

It's a good idea on this one to READ THE HINT first. I had solved this awhile back, but today was my first time to visit the area. My goal was to climb Eagle, so on the way down I decided I had enough gumption left in the tank to tackle. Got within 180' of GZ and realized I had a large problem. Fortunately, there was a way up, but it's a short scramble and not recommended when your solo - especially heading down. Speaking of being solo, there was also some bear scat on the side that is the recommended approach - maybe that's the bandit!
The cache is in great shape, and this looks like a sweet camp spot except for no aguas. Thanks for the fun puzzle.

After hiking this area last October I was told we hiked "right past" this one. Hike over to this after a multi final. Looking way down to the trail I sure am glad we didn't attempt this one on the last hike. Sl, thanks!

TFTC I came out Shubarth Trail with 3 Williams Kidz to find some puzzle caches and multi caches on a cloudy day.

Stopped by with geocacher jherber while in the area. Didn't have the Kidz with me this time, as I did back on November 11, 2013 when we originally found the Bandito. Dropped a trackable of ours (a Copy Tag). TFTC -- again !

Adventure to say the least!! I was asking for a tough hike since it's been awhile, be careful what you ask for!! Scaling a mountain for hours was a little more than a hike, this was much tougher than hiking Pikes Peak since we were on all fours the majority of the time. We all missed the trail but this is what I call a "cache cut" the longer, treacherous way...hahaha As I always say, it will be a great story(to add to my many), once you've accomplished what you came for and you make it home safe and all in one piece. Couldn't have chosen better people to be on this crazy experience with, the positivity was awesome and we all got what we came for a smiley and lots of sore muscles. As Kerewin0430 stated in her log, should have definitely be a 10star terrain rating. TFTC!

Set out this morning with Berry16, Werefish, and one of my good-natured coworkers on a double-mission: have a challenging hike and find my 1000th cache! Well, mission(s) accomplished, haha!! The way we came, we made it a 10 terrain instead of a 3.5!!
I think we just missed a bandito, too...saw some awfully large paw prints between the car and the trailhead!
Werefish had thankfully solved the puzzle prior to us starting...glad we had a mountain-goat with us! After inadvertently straying from the trail early on (critical trail markers indicating a water crossing hadbeen removed), we ended up VERY SLOWLY scaling the wrong side of the mountain, taunted by the fact that the GPS said we were only 0.2 mi away. So close! Can't give up now! Plus, we have to find a real trail at some point...because...how are we getting down?! (Not the way we came, that's for sure!) Once we reached the top of our peak, we realized we were still another little mountain over! Maintained our elevation and found a saddle on which to cross, and then just had to find a way up (haha). By now the ground was snowy and our fun meters had just about worn out...but we persevered. When we did finally reach the glorious flat (dry) ground of GZ, there was MUCH rejoicing!!
Due to snow cover and lack of any other footprints at GZ, we still couldn't locate the trail to go back down, so we set our GPS to the next closest cache and finally picked up the perfectly manicured trail there. What a hilarious adventure!
What is it cachers say...bushwhack in, trail out?
I've never chased numbers (haha, clearly - it took me nearly 6.5 years to find 1000 caches), and have often said I'd rather do a really good hike to find one cache than a power trail. Especially given that attitude, this ammo-can-in-the-woods hiking cache was PERFECT for this milestone! Thank you for placing this one!
