This is the 6th in a series of 4x4 caches that offers the unusual and scenic views.
Your adventure will start in Georgetown. Take Hwy 381 south towards Guanella Pass. Near the BM located at N39°38.638 W105°42.223 you will find the 4x4 road (FDR248) that goes WxS towards Waldorf. Just prior to Waldorf go north on FDR248.1 There are several roads that go to the mine when you get close. Some are easier than others. The Santiago Mill is full of historic mining equipment. Enter at your own risk.

This was our main goal & we were able to find a route to drive the Montero all the way to the mine. It & the immediate surrounding area is posted closed due to ground contamination, asbestos, lead, mercury, etc. things associated with mining in those days. But it does not affect the cache location which is outside the closure and a route can be chosen that circles outside the contaminated area.
The posting does say they will be working on clean-up and restoration & should be reopened in a few years.
