The Emperor awaits

Be aware that the elevation of the Emperor’s Tomb is 12,194 feet above sea level and subject to short summers, so come prepared.
The Emperor’s Tomb is based on the story of the Terracotta Warriors of China and their role of protecting Emperor Qin-shi-huang (221-207 BC) in his afterlife. Over eight thousand of these pottery warriors make up an army that would protect him for an eternity. In our case, the concept is somewhat the same, but there are only eight warriors. These warriors have mistakenly wandered off in four directions and need help to return to the Emperor’s Tomb. The Emperor is awaiting the return of his warriors and MUST remain in his Tomb. Once a warrior returns, he MUST remain to fulfill his responsibility to the Emperor.

Please feel free to help yourself to a part of the Emperor’s treasure and leave something that he may take into the after-life. The Emperor would also like pictures of his visitors so that he can keep track of them. The Emperor's Warriors are Travel Bugs (Terracotta #1 thru 8) and have been seen in caches across the Country as they attempt to return to the Tomb. If you come across one, the Emperor would greatly appreciate his return to the Tomb..

This cache can be accessed from Grant Colorado on US 285 and heading West on County road 62 towards Guanella Pass. Go approximately 14.2 miles on 62 to US Forest Service road 2433. Proceed .6 miles on 2433 to the Silver Dollar Trail Head parking area (N 39-36.404, W 105-43.641). Some may consider 2433 a 4x4 road but sedans were observed at the parking area. From here you’ll take the Silver Dollar Trail approximately 2 miles to the Emperor’s Tomb. The last ¼ mile is fairly steep so take your time and enjoy the scenery...

It was really windy up here. Right as I neared the point to leave the trail, a couple walked over and began having a picnic right at the GZ. No problem, I'll go explore around the little lake, take more pictures, study some flowers... 45 minutes later they are still there. So I begin looking at rocks and flowers 150 ft away and wandering around like a crazy person. It worked; they left and I was able to find it straight away. T: pin L: cache maniacs geocoin

Beautiful hike to get here. Perfect day, great weather and lots of flowers. Had 1 muggle on July 6, 2017.

Out with Travelinghiker, his Mom, and our friends on our first hike above timberline this year. The Emperor is resting comfortably. Took the food bars that were in the box. TFTC

After ascending Mt Evans with my wife we wanted something a little different and this cache was on my target list along with two others in the area.

We opted for the two mile route and used the 4X4 road as far as we could and started our hike. Sadly the rains started again and didn't stop until we got back to the Jeep. It figure. I can't say much about the scenery as that clouds were on us the whole trek. Cache in great shape though.

Wow, a year since this was logged. There are muggle signatures on the log too. I guess it's too far to steal & lug an ammo can back down the hill! I didn't realize there were actually 3 lakes up here. The last time I was in the area I was snowshoeing and only made it to Naylor. The final push from Silver Dollar up is quite a heart Pumper. I had to take quite a few breaks. But since I was already this far up I was glad to see all three. I left a mini measuring tape keychain for the Emperor.

Found this one on the way to go fishing. This is one of my favorite places to visit even though the hike is a pretty good trek. Came up here the first time over 30 years ago and it was a lot easier at 25 years old than it was this time at 55. TFTC SL LNTN
God's Rays shinning down on Murray Lake

Since we again took a lovely hike up to Silver Dollar Lake and to Murray Lake, on the way back from our pleasant lunch spot, I decided to check up on the Emperor and his cache. He was happy to get a little air. The cache is in fine shape--ready to have others visit. We took nothing from his treasury--just visited--and enjoyed our visit and the fine view from the cache area. Many people were out. And dogs too. And the rosy paintbrush on the Emperor's hillside was astounding. Again we enjoyed our hike in the area and were happy to visit this excellent cache again. []:)]

The Emperor is still resting quietly in his tomb. As soon as we laid hands on him, a bolt of lightning sliced through the sky and thunder rumbled up the valley. Ramifications of disturbing his tomb. It was enough to scare us away. We rapidly made our escape down the trail. The lightning and rumblings continued. We didn't quite make it down before we got struck by hail. Let this be a warning to those who disturb the Emperor.

Took a wonderful hike with the extended family. My 12 year old daughter and I continued past Silver Dollar Lake to find this cache. Beautiful setting.
