This cache is a moderate hike to reach, and may not be available in winter due to snow. In mid-summer, the wildflowers will knock your socks off! It's located about 100' off the trail but very accessible. Be careful to not step on the beautiful wildflowers along this trail.
WhiskeyBit and I were on a Live By Living retreat in 2015 and decided to create a series of caches to increase awareness about Live By Living and cancer survivorship. Cancer is an unkind mistress and affects millions of people with no concern for age, gender, or race. We both are cancer survivors. Those affected face fear, the unknown, unpleasant treatments, self-image concerns, and more. Nature is a wonderful healer and just being in it brings about profound changes in one.
Live By Living offers retreats, day hikes and snowshoe trips, and walks in parks for cancer survivors and caregivers. These are transformative outdoor experiences for cancer survivors and their caregivers. Their day hikes, snowshoe outings, and cancer survivor retreats are structured to help you build up your strength and stamina, to find solace in the beauty of nature, and to inspire, and be inspired by, others who are traveling along the cancer journey. There is no cost to participate thanks to generous support from the George Karl Foundation, as well as other donors.
Both of us have experienced wonderful retreats and the healing Nature provides at them, and love Live By Living. We encourage you to tell everyone you know who is on a cancer journey, or who is a caregiver to someone on that journey, about Live By Living.
