Rita the Rock Planter

Park at the Little Grouse Mountain Trail head in Victor and hike the short trail to see Thomas Dambo's latest creation, Rita the Rock Planter.  Thomas Dambo is an artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark and he builds trolls, with the help of volunteers, all over the world.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF RATTLESNAKES

Rattlesnakes have been seen in this area

I gave it a 2.5 terrain.  The trail is a bit rocky and may be difficult to walk on for some people.   But it's not a very steep climb.  Easy for me, but my mom had to be careful.  Enjoy

Be Sure to find the other cache in the area.

Credit goes to my dad of Team WBarV for making the geocache container.

Congratulations to Rustybeercan for FTF.

2:04 PM We are from Dallas, spending a couple of weeks in Divide, as we have done for the past 10 years.

Today we hiked the Horsethief Falls trail before driving through Victor to come and see Rita.

The posted parking coordinates are down a road with a closed gate and are farther away. Use these parking coordinates instead:
N 38° 42.527' W 105° 10.144'

The mining equipment and info signs near the above coordinates is really interesting. Then we had a nice walk to the cache.

The container was full of water. We left the log to dry out and walked down to see Rita. Very cool. A guy was there painting her. It took him about an hour and a half. He did a nice job.

The log had dried out a little by the timd we returned. I signed the log, added a baggie and closed the container tightly.

Thank you, Halfamind, for the geocache. I am adding a favorite point.

Found this cache on the way back from visiting the lovely Rita. We had a great time and this was a good spot for a cache. Thank you for the very helpful hint! I had to laugh at the container and wondered if it's truly waterproof. TFTC!

I actually came up here yesterday to visit Rita and place a couple of caches here.
This morning I checked my email to see if they had been published. I was very confused when I clicked on this one and the pictures looked different than the ones I had put on my cache page. Also the wording was different. Then I realized this wasn't my cache. You beat me to it.
So I headed to this area again today and decided to hike up to Pancake Rocks before coming back here to move my cache a hundred or so feet further away from where I had hid it. As it was too close to yours.
I spent a lot of time looking at all the pine trees before checking the spoiler picture. Thank goodness that picture was there or I wouldn't have found it.

Thank you Halfamind for placing and maintaining "Rita the Rock Planter" for me to find and log. Sunday August 6, 2023 7:10 PM

Really cool place to bring Geocachers .
Plenty of people hiking today , But appears Marla and I were the only ones caching.
Then off to the moving yard sale to find some oddities.
Thanks for the Great cache
