Significant hike  Abandoned mines

Camouflaged water bottle not far from a mine.
I ran into this place last year while on my way to Sentinel Rock. I came back to the area today with a few friends.
Park at the TH and head west. The trail will finally give out and you will be on your own for last .25 mile. This place (next to the cache) would make for a nice camp site. Just a few hundred feet to the W/SW of the cache is the mine area. The mine is about a mile from the TH, but the elevation gain is 1500 feet. It is well worth the hike.

Congrats to HD for FTF.

Need to get in some late logs- on a couple of my wife & my recent visits our internet was sketchy; and we've been swamped otherwise. I made a circuit to here & points southwest; figures another one would appear- higher up- after I was gone Shock

Hmmm - sure found this in good shape -- but sure do see a bunch of tall clouds gathering up there just south !!!!!

RPieperco? and I came up the chose your own adventure route from Crystal mine. After we finished tenny's little brother we found the trial that used to lead up here down near the creek. It helped lead us part of the way back to high drive. That trail has been closed for revegetation and is mostly covered in logs and downed trees. We were still grateful for a little less bushwhacking since mother nature decided at this point that we needed a shower. So many mines in the area! We found a lot of amazonite, mica, and quartz specimens. Thanks for adding a smiley to our adventures!

Thanks for the fun cache! Out on a great adventure today doing a rather large loop of the area to grab some higher D/T caches. Man what a trek up to this point! Ran through dozens of mines in the area and picked up a few nice specimens while looking around. Not too bad to get to this spot, but significant elevation gain for such a short distance. Found it quickly just as described. Signed the log and replaced as found. All is well here. Off to SRS! I can see it from here!

Whew. Came up from Crystal Mine on the way to Sentinel and Specimen Rocks. It's a tougher approach but we needed the caches in that valley. Now further up and further in. :-) SLTNLN TFTC
