Rumor has it that there's gold in them thar hills. This cache will lead you to your own conclusion.
Welcome to my favorite view of my beloved adopted Colorado hamlet. This place is home to some big-hearted mountain people and felt like home when we arrived in 2011.
Local Trivia: Rollinsville was a company town, owned by John Q. A. Rollins, a prominent mining executive in Gilpin County in the 1860s and 1870s. We celebrate Rollinsville Independence Day on July 15, marking the day that either Rollins left town or his wife died and with her the town's prohibition. (Depends who you ask) The Stage Stop (in Rollinsville) was constructed in 1868 for the Butterfield Stage Coach Company, which ran stagecoaches across the divide at Rollins Pass, providing service from Denver, Golden, Central City, Nederland, Boulder and Estes Park. Please take care in putting it replacing the cache. It is guarded by Rollins' Ghost. If you're quiet, you may hear him howling, "Don't take my GOLD!"
