!! Exciting New Cache Series!!

“COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST”

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado.  This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other ‘Spirit Quest’ group.  Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task.  It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people.  This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers  willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the “Walking Through History Clan” contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of “Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mo untain Passage”.  Use the ‘Send Message” link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

A camoed prescription bottle.

While looking at online topo sheets I came across a grave located away from everything else. I investigated and found it under some trees at the edge of a meadow. There was a rather old fence that keeps vehicles on the road and off of the meadow, but there were no signs indicating that this location was private property. Rather than take a chance, I placed the cache on the road side of the fence. The actual grave is located at N39 49.598 W105 35.337.

This cache is located on what can best be described as a high clearance/4x4 road. Go up past Nevadaville until you reach Bald Mountain Rd. Go past the Bald Mountain Cemetery and continue up to the road junction with Pisgah road on top of the ridge. There really aren't any road signs other than at a major junction where it points one way to Central City and another to Yankee Hill. Go toward Yankee Hill. Up until the last quarter mile or so most vehicles should be able to make it ok. I don't include zero gound clearance vehicles like prius's in this list. If you have a stock 4x4, you are all set to get to the cache location and beyond.

My favorite series!
One of those rare instances where nothing remains of the cemetery. At least I couldn’t find anything. The new coords were spot on. Thank you for the series!

#33225 Killian33 and I drove around the Fall River and then hiked around the Pisgah area. TFTC

This is a very busy area and we couldn't find the cache at the coordinates in the logs, so we placed a new container at these coordinates:

N 39° 49.550 W 105° 35.250

Not at the fence anymore-it has been replaced recently. Coordinates in logs take you to the upper tree in the middle of the road where I did find the cache.
