Microcache is located the end of the McCullough Gulch Trail near Breckenridge Colorado. Cache has been replaced as of September of 2016.
This trail has become much more popular since it was placed in 2004. Some trail improvements now in place.

NOTE: Road to trail is closed for season as of September 6, 2016 for road work. Should open again spring of 2017

The initial elevation at the parking area is 11,100 feet. It is a 1.3 mile hike one way to the cache and the elevation change is 800 feet. (Final elevation is 11,900). This cache should be accessible June to to October.

Directions:
From Breckenridge, drive south on Colorado Nine towards Hoosier pass for around 7 miles until you reach County Road 850 and turn right. Then take another quick right on to County road 851. You will proceed 2 miles. Four wheel drive is not required. At around 1 mile, if you look up you may glimpse the waterfalls that are one of the attractions of this trail.

Parking can get crowded

We had a six year old with us when it was placed and he made it with a smile. Sections are steep and we did gasp for air at times hence the name!

The waterfalls are impressive and a good place for a rest. The final destination is a glacial lake. You will initially trek up an old mining road. At about 0.66 miles from the cache, the trail will change to more narrow path to the left. Keep on going!

Happy Hiking!

55Connie and I decided to hike to the falls for our daily adventure. Connie wasn't feeling too well when we got to the falls and elected to wait there for me. I found the cache quite easily once I checked the clue. Great hide in a great location. Thanks, CanoeCrashers, for the placement.

This may be one of my favorite hikes in the area. I love the waterfalls and the lake at the top. Found the cache! Thanks!

In the area for the Spartan Race from Massachusetts. Wanted to get a hike in to help get us acclimated to the elevation. This is a beautiful hike, we even went around the lake to play in the snow but we could not find the cache.

Canoecrashers hiked up to replace the cache and found the old one. It is still in place with log dating back to 2008. Added some paper and and a few trade items.

Note: It looks like the road to trail head is closing for the season on September 6, 2016 due to road work.

We hiked with six year old described in cache description and he is now 18.

Nice hike. Thanks for the directions to the trailhead. Absolutely gorgeous area raging falls, ice cold water, snow. Looked all around the cracks in the rock and such but no find. Will return. Pretty area.

Three of us looked for a pretty long time but could not find it. Looked in all the nearby boulders and small trees.

Found it!! What a beautiful hike! We had a great time on this hike and loved the view of the lake at the top. Took us a few minutes to find it since there were so many muggles around, but found it we did! Thanks so much for placing this cache and showing us this beautiful hike! Favorite point from us!!

Came out to the area for the day will visiting Denver from Winnipeg. Decided to do this hike after hearing how scenic it was and noticed a geocache was near by. Great trail for a hike.

Snow on the ground may have been why we could not find it.
