History:

Doyle or Doylestown was established in 1879 by Henry Doyle, a homesteader. From 1882-1883, the town was called Gilman. In 1885, it was renamed Doyleville. Henry Doyle established a stage line which was a stop for the Barlow & Sanderson stage. Doyleville was also a railroad stop on the Marshall Pass route. From 1881 - 1969, Doyleville had a post office. Today, Doyleville is a ranching community.

Like the town, Doyle Cemetery also has 2 other names: Doyleville Cemetery #1 and Doyleville Cemetery South.

Please take some time to reflect back on the lives of these pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state!! The only guarantee in life is death. Where will you be?

Colorado Spirit Quest Information:

The Colorado Spirit Quest (CSQ) is a series of caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have "walked" before us. There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will provide a history tour of these cemeteries. If you are apprehensive about cemeteries, avoid this series.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches. Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

New volunteers are always Welcome!! If you are interested in being a part of this project, email the owner of Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Golden Mountain Passage.

Picking up Colorado counties with Hives SL - TFTC

Found it 10/11/2018 By Hives
Today's quest was to finish a couple of challenges - caches in all Colorado counties and 500 cemetery finds. Both were accomplished as we ended our very enjoyable visit to the Montrose/Gunnison area and headed back to Colorado Springs. GPSr pointed that way and then back to the correct spot for a relatively quick find. Nice hide. SL. TFTC

Out with friends making a loop from Buena Vista, over Monarch Pass then Pitkin and back to BV via Hancock Pass a total of 145 miles. We made a quick find but decided to have our lunch here and ponder the folks buried in this cemetery.
