Weeee. This was tough to get to. I am glad I brought my water. What a perfect day to be geocaching. I am out from Aurora, CO doing some geocaching in Woodland Park and Cripple creek today. I love the weather today and I love the geocache even more. The caches up in the Mountains are awesome. TNLN.

Last adventure before leaving "home" and returning to Texas for a few more months. I've hiked the trails nearby many times, but my kids never wanted to brave this. Really, I'm glad we didn't. RPieperco was a good hiking buddy. He made "steps" in the skree so I could follow his footsteps as we navigated up and down. He also found the best and safest route. Amazing views that remind me Colorado will always be the best place to be. Tftc!

Thanks for the fun cache! Today was Crumbcrunchers last day in Colorado before heading back to Texas and we needed one last adventure. We had both been eyeing this cache for awhile and decided to finally make it up that hill. We arrived at a perfect time as the temperature was vary nice and the sun just right to shine on us the whole way.

As with others we took the direct and fun route. With all the recent snow and still plenty of snow it helped a lot as the scree was pretty packed and made for an "easy" climb up and down. Once to the tree line and solid ground we managed to climb up without any further issues. We did see the shovel and various other metal objects strewn about near the tailings.

Finally at the GZ we were a little daunted as the snow was nearly a foot deep and with so many hiding places all about we didn't know where to start digging. Luckily the coordinates are nearly spot on and our geo-senses were operating. We only had to dig a few holes before I finally spotted it.

Signed and stamped the log and replaced as found. All is well here!

Then we took a few moments for some pictures of our surroundings and the amazing view!

The trip down was a bit more slippery through the snow, but not too bad. We noticed across the valley a big plume of smoke. It appears someones cabin may be on fire or something but it was pretty far off. Sad to see stuff like that especially this time of year.

All that said, I would love to come back to this spot in the summer with leaves on the aspens and to check out that big hole all filled with snow.

Thanks for the awesome adventure!

A parked to the Southwest of the cache at the pull out. I just headed up the hill and that probably was a mistake. The footing was very poor and it was very steep. In hindsight it looks like it would have been easier to get up to where the footing was better if I would have walked down the road a couple of hundred feet. Even after I finally made it to the trees the climb was still quite steep, but at least I had better footing as I made my ascent. The cache was still in good shape sitting upside down so that it doesn't fill up with water. TFTC.
