Grand vista from above timberline on the Contential Divide at 12, 650'

Located on top of Stoney Pass at 12,650'. This above timberline cache is reached by a semi maintained road accessible usually from late June till mid September. Access is made by most high clearance vehicles. Located on the Contential Divide it provides a grand view of the San Juan Mountains. (PLEASE CHECK WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN SILVERTON AS TO PASS ACCESSIBILITY... NO CELL PHONE SERVCE)There are many historic mining structures to be seen on the way up to the cache from the Silverton side. This is an exciting experience for any nature lover or history buff. Cache is an ammo can with an Emergency Kit (poncho, space blanket, signal device), FTF, and trinkets.

I dropped off Jenn near here so she can do the last 93 miles or so of the Colorado Trail. I'll pick her up next Saturday at the trail end near Durango. I stopped to find this cache before heading back towards home.
