5 terrain is based on the beauty of the hike and the climb. Beginning elevation is 9340 and the ending elevation is 12049 with a 9% grade.3.25 Mi one way Hiking sticks will be very helpful on the down hill trek. PARK at 37 49.455
W 107 38.117 and go north of the tailings to acess the trail. A little over three miles from the trail head one way. This is one of the earlier mining claims. The Iron City Silver mining company Patented this claim Sept 7th 1880 Total area of the lode claim 10.33 acres 1.66 of these acres was for a millsite. Most of the remnants from the mill and cabins has dissapeared. Campers probably used them for fire wood.

Tried to check this cache yesterday day. Got about 2 1/2 miles up and there is still a lot of snow and lots of downed trees from snow slides. Maybe by the middle of August i will try again.

What a beautiful spot and COpackrat and I had it all to ourselves. After we found the cache we found a spot out of the wind and closer to the lake to have lunch. I could look at that view forever and not get tired of it. TFTC

I have been wanting to grab this cache for some time. My brother hiked up with me to help with the find. Don't need a hint as the cache is big and easy to find once you reach GZ. Thanks for placing it.

Took quite a bit longer than necessary but we made it. Total trip 9.1 miles round trip. TFTC!! Had to cross lots of snow.

My puppy Orizaba and I had a marvelous morning making the challenging hike to the cabin and then up to the lake and finally to this superb cache. Once at GZ it was an easy find, a relief after the extended hunt I needed to make for the lower cache at the old cabin site. I pulled out my lunch and we had a mid-morning snack before heading down to some family activities. The morning will remain fondly in my memory as one complete with beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, a strenuous physical workout, and flowers, flowers, flowers, flowers everywhere! Oh, there were also two wonderful caches in the mix... It was neat to sign the cache log book in the STF position. Thanks for this great experience.

Didn't get all the way to the area. Hiked about 2/3 of the way up and due to a late start and some dark clouds rolling in we decided it best to turn back around. Would have really liked to see the final views of this spot and had a cool little treasure to leave behind. Maybe next time if we are feeling ambitious again. Thanks for taking us to some great spots in a place we vacation every year.
