#4 Flies and Spiders

Flies and Spiders is the eighth chapter of J.R.R Tolkien's The Hobbit.  Following their encounter with Beorn, a skin-changer who can change himself into a bear, Bilbo and the Dwarves begin their journey through Mirkwood Forest. Later, they see a group of Wood-elves having a feast. Spiders capture twelve of the Dwarves, while Thorin is captured by the Elves. Bilbo is nearly eaten by a spider, but wakes in time and kills it; he then names his sword Sting.

Congratulations to R&B CO and hartsdale for being co-FTF !

10:57 AM Today we stopped at the farmer's market, as is our custom. We ran into our friends from Carroll Lakes, who had children and grandchildren in tow. We had a little field lab about geocaching at Memorial Park and bid the kids safe travel back to Dallas.

Then we came to Lovell Gulch to do an easier hike after a hard day yesterday.

I signed the log. Another favorite.

Thank you, 3 Williams Kidz, for the geocache.

I swear I logged this cache but apparently it didn't post it. But I think this is where I saw two beautiful horses with long blonde manes behind a fence. They looked like Icelandic horses! Amazing! And so were the flies.

Great hike with estes01 this morning. I commented to her on the name of the cache and could feel the flies persistently landing. Fun cache in any case - TFTC!

TFTC After my start to this series yesterday was interrupted by a trip to the airport, I thought I would finish it today. It was a beautiful day for a walk in the forest.

All was in good order.

Flies and Spiders. Not my favorite little critters. Another great hide and no work for me to do here. Easy pickins. Now, "where am I and how do I get outta here?" Will have to count on the GPS and not the dog for this one. Thanks 3WK. Last find for today.
