Cowboy was hungry…Real hungry. He had ridden two days from Arizona and arrived in Cortez. His clothes were sweaty and dirty from the dusty ride. He did not want to go into the dining hall at the hotel. Just then an old friend, Jonathan Naranjo, rode up and said, "Cowboy, you look terrible".
Jonathan said, "Come on over to our chuck wagon for some grub and even a few shots of Tequila". Cowboy could smell the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and he could see a beautiful Mexican woman cooking carne asada on the grill. . Cowboy swung down off his horse and the woman gave him a heaping plate of Mexican food of deliciously cooked meat, Mexican frijoles, fresh tortillas, and Mexican rice. Cowboy said to the Mexican woman, "You make the best Mexican food north of Santa Fe" Jonathan spoke up and said, "Well, Cowboy you can thank my sister, Karen, for the food" Cowboy smiled and said, "Pleased to meet you, Senorita. I will be around a few days and maybe tomorrow we could take a ride and picnic to Mesa Verde"
With two years of delay, finally ravestorm and me travel to the USA to do the road trip that should have been our honeymoon. Our route will take us from Phoenix via some national parks to Las Vegas, and then from Portland to Seattle where we'll take part in the Geocaching anniversary Celebration.
This is one cache that we found along our trip. I guess we'll find too many caches to write individual logs for every single cache. In the meantime I thank all the owners!
Day 5 - Bluff to Monticello via Mesa Verde
My first FTF in the US (ravestorm has more experience with this). While driving from the Four Corners Monument to Cortez, I checked out the many downloaded caches and was surprised not to see a smiley for this one, although I had updated all caches just yesterday. This was strange because two other relatively new caches already had their FTFs. We thought that maybe the other cachers didn't find this one, but decided to give it a try anyway.
At GZ we felt a bit uncomfortable because it's very close to a restaurant and the waiter came out immediately. (good for us that there were no guests yet at this time of the day). The waiter seemed to know about the geocache but we were not sure if he understood what we wanted. He always says "yes yes geocache yes yes" but not something like "yes, sure, search here on the right" or something like that.
While chatting with him ravestorm could spot the cache from a distance. I ran back to the car to get some tweezers. Then we could roll out the logbook and - YEAH - FTF!!!

08/09/2022 By ravestorm Found together with Schlauchen. Finally this year we can have our honeymoon in the USA, we had to postpone it for two years due to the pandemic. We had to shorten our trip a bit but it's still very cool. We start in Phoenix and make our way to Las Vegas visiting the Southwestern National Parks. Then we fly to Oregon for some Jasmer caches and we end up in Seattle for the 20th (or better to say 22nd?) anniversary celebration.
