This is the first cache in a series of ShawSquad cache hides. This series of caches will follow the name “Shaw” throughout the San Luis Valley. The cache is located on Highway 160 between Del Norte and South Fork at the “Shaw Creek Rest Area.” Here you will find historical facts of the beginnings of South Fork.    It is worth a read. The quiet town of South Fork is known as the Gateway of the Rio Grande. This Cache is hidden underneath what you would need to cross over the Rio Grande River. Although “this” does not cross over a river it is made of the same product from the industry that sustained South Fork since the mining days in 1882 due to the prolific materials that is found in the San Juan Mountains.  Stay tuned for more ShawSquad hides:)
