A summer-only cache located at the summit of the Tomichi Dome access road off US 50.
The cache is on national forest land just outside BLM land. The road to the cache is located at N 38 28.342 north, W 106 34.472 on the north side of US Highway 50. It is easy to miss and does not appear on some maps. 4WD is required, and the road will be muddy during and after rain. However, when the cache was placed, the road had recently been graded. It was smooth with no high center mound.

After turning onto the road, follow the signs for Tomichi Dome access. There is a fork near the top which does not have a Tomichi Dome sign. However, there is a signpost with the worn number 3094 on it. Bear to the left, staying on Road 3094.

Cache is an ammo can. Original contents were:

log book and pencil
kleenex pocket pack
box of dice
gel-filled ball
die cast Humvee pickup
Colorado keyring
mini lint roller
Colorado playing cards

It was a quick find once I got up here. I drove by the access road a few times and then spotted it. Great spot for a cache. The views are spectacular. I didn't realize this one had gone over 4 years without a find. Still in great shape. Thanks!

Flutiste dragged me up to this cache, even though I'm barely recovered from knee surgery. Hiked up from the jeep road and survived! Pleasant little cache-site, and nice place for a picnic. I've never been up to Tomichi Dome, so we spent the day exploring the roads in the area. Thanks for the fun adventure! TNLN

TFTC. This a beautiful place with great views. I found this with Flutiste. It was her 100 find and she was excited. The wildflowers were out in abundance. Its a good thing I put up the last gate while we looked for the cache because a herd of cows came right by us and the gate. After we left and put up the gate tightly we saw a cowboy riding up to check the herd. What a perfect western scene.

Today is Flag Day, and, with StudioGirl, I just found my 100th cache! I was saving Tomichi Dome for this special event, and it was worth it! What a lovely wildflower-filled drive on a beautiful day. I've lived here for 35 years, and I've never driven up Tomichi Dome before. The view up there is pretty spectacular. We thought we were the only ones up there, but while we were looking for the cache, a herd of cows appeared out of nowhere, and so did a cowboy. My truck looked out of place in such a pastoral setting. Enjoyed the hide -- a combination of styles. Thanks for giving the incentive to go up there...I'm adding this one to my list of favorites. Wow - 45 min drive up a BLM (bad, low maintenance) road. A little concerned that the cache hadn't been found in over a year. The cache is intact and in good condition. TFTC

Seemed like it took for ever to go that 2.75 miles to the cache! The road was dry so wasn't a hard drive at all, just bumpy in places. TNLNSL

The cache is in good condition. In a great area for a cache. Left a key ring. TFTC
