This is an incredible cache! Located in the top of Douglas Pass, Youll love it!
THIS CACHE IS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. It is located on a very large private ranch, at the owners permission. There are several ways to get at it, but only one will make your life easy!! The entire area is gated off, so youll have to bring your bike or put on your walking shoes! If you park at the top of douglas pass, look for the road cutting up the hill on the opposite side of highway from the snow-plow shed. There is a gate, so youll have to start walking/riding from here. If you take this route, youll have a branch in the road, just go straight, follow your gps! The cache is located on a razor back ridge with killer 360 views of the Douglas Pass area. I placed this cache with some students from Ashely Valley Wilderness, the "junkies". Hope you enjoy, Happy hunting!

wow was this an epic cache adventure. went in with bearmoose as this would be his 2500 th find.(congrats bearmoose). parked at douglas pass parking area as this was the best option to access the cache. the day was a beautiful, cool, cloudless fall day. started the hike and soon discovered it was much more than the 2.73 mile the gps showed (atcf of course). only saw bovine but heard elk bugleing. finally found right access to cache site and was it fantastic, awesome and well worth the challenge to find it! cache and container are in great shape. hope this one stays here as it's a destination cache classic. thanks for placing it!!!!

Found it, this one was on my bucket list for awhile I've been up here a few years ago moving a work over right in, but I only want to the intersection then stayed on that road. Another reason I want to find the cache was my 2500th find. Heard some Elk in the next canyon. Was a great day. Tftc

Yes, this is a FANTASTIC cache, and I'm really grateful that it remains active. It's in excellent condition, and should be kept alive for the occasional back country cacher who wants a real thrill. And this provides just that. A cache like this one will never receive much "traffic". That's what makes it so incredibly special for the tiny percentage of us who stay in the caching game BECAUSE of caches like this! Thank you, WestieWanderer, for providing us with this great one. I hope you keep it going for years and years and years!

I hiked in from the Douglas Pass parking area on an afternoon of wonderful weather. It was a pleasant hike, and I was surprised when I got close to the cache location that there was a really easy way up to the tippy top. From a distance things had looked a bit more challenging than the actual simple finish is... After finding the cache and signing its log, I sat up there and marveled at the scenes before me. What a marvelous lookout site this is! I paged through the log and read the comments of the few cache-finders before me. I took the Red Cross Geocoin, and will move it on to a new location.

Again, a super experience. Thanks!!

Please don't archive it. It was in great condition and hidden well enough that it should be good for years to come. It is a great cache and just because it is not found often doesn't mean it should be archived. If you get closer to archiving it...email me first. Thanks. cdsoccer7

Ive been keeping an eye on this cache, and It doesnt seem to be doing anything lately. Due to its extreme placement...I may just have to finally archive it. I hate to do so with an 8 year old cache...but alas...I may have to. Anyone who had a near future visit planned to this cache, please mail me! grins THANK YOU AND HAPPY CACHING!

Beautiful day for a 10.7 mile (round-trip as measured by our GPS unit) hike. Nice views of the surrounding country. The cache is in good condition, well-hidden and secure; thanks to A & J for that! We left a new log book and the Red Cross Geocoin; took nothing. There was a lot of activity at the gas wells in the area; they were moving a drilling rig from one site to another. We were advised by several folks that we were hiking on private property. They seemed satisfied when we told them that the owner had given permission to place the cache and, presumably, for people to hike out to find it. We saw seven young Mule Deer bucks, a toad and a couple of hawks.

Incredibly frustrating day of caching... after hiking for over two hours we ended up 3/10 of a mile away and no time left. Word of advice... plan and prepare for a full day of hiking as the hike is far longer than the 2.73 miles that shows up on the GPS at the get go (the locked gate at the top of Douglas). Will try and go back for this one sometime in the near future... Frown
