Two of my favourite activities are Trail running and Geocaching and I often like to combine the two by picking up a cache while out on a trail run. This Cache is part of a series that I will be creating that combine a Geocache with a favourite running trail in and around Colorado Springs, CO. You don't have to run the trail to get these Caches but bonus points if you do.

 

 

Dawsons Butte is located between Larkspur and Castle Rock on Tomah Road. The main loop is five miles around and is great for running. It can be run in either direction and is a downhill on the way out and uphill on the way back either way. There are additional side trails as well for additonal miles. This trail is very popular for horse riding and the side trails include jumps. The main trail is better for running and hiking and is very smooth.

I think this was our third or fourth hike at Dawson Butte. Last time we got chased by rain. Today was a beautiful bluebird Colorado afternoon.

I was heading for 66 Wheeler when I noticed that this one was on the way. I had a bit of trouble with the cacher-resistant cap. I would call this a micro.

Signed the log KAJW. Took nothing. Left nothing. Thanks for the cache!
