Cowboy was on his way home from Farmington.  He had come a long way and still had pert near 10 miles of rough country to cross.  To make matters worse if Cowboy took the direct route home, he had to cross the territory controlled by the Ian Holiday gang.  Holiday was a shifty one-eyed outlaw who was as hard as nails.  They say Holiday lost his eye in a knife fight in a Dolores saloon over a woman, but most likely Holiday took on some trapper and lost.

The gang consisted of 3  Holiday brothers who were nearly as mean as Ian and would shoot at a rider just for sport.  Just then a rabbit jumped out from under a patch of sagebrush.  Cowboy drew his 1860 Army 44 revolver and nailed the rabbit on the run at thirty yards.  The revolver was old and had belonged to Cowboy's grandpa which was a fitting way to get some fresh meat for dinner.  Cowboy decided he would camp here for the night and dine on the roasted rabbit and some rice and beans he carried in his saddlebags.  He would take the long route home avoiding the Holidays.

You may need tweezers or needle nose pliers to take out the log.  Could be muddy in the rainy season or in winter when it snows.
