Cowboy's horse, Rocky, had been his main mount since Cowboy was knee-high to a grasshopper.  But now Rocky was older and he had stumbled a few times on the trail.  Cowboy wanted to use Rocky around the ranch but needed a good, dependable horse for the long rides he had to take when going to places like Durango, Silverton, Ouray, and Moab.  Cowboy heard that there were some good horses for sale at the Hampton ranch just east of Cortez.

Cowboy rode over to the ranch.  One horse in the remuda stood out above the rest.  Jose, the ranch foreman, walked up and Cowboy said," I like that big gelding", pointing his finger at the horse.  "Oh, Senor," said Jose, "You mean Zorro, the big grey Appaloosa?"  "Yup", said Cowboy, “I’d like to try him out".  An hour later the men made a deal for $100 for the horse with a fine Mexican hand-tooled saddle thrown in on the deal.  Cowboy found his new horse.  He saddled up Zorro and headed home leading Rocky behind.
