The cache at this location is set for the moderate trail run crew for the
Mountain Mardi Gras and 4x4 Caching Adventure
.
On the Leadville side of Mosquito Pass, you will find a "Lone Road" that will take you into the saddle of the Prospect Mountain and Mosquito Peak.

This cache is a sturdy, weather resistant 30 cal ammo can that will withstand the harshness of winters at this high elevation and is loaded with swag and logbook.
Enjoy the views as you venture to the cache.
I recommend going topless (Jeep-wise and weather permitting) to take in a full 360 degrees of
Rocky Mountain Beauty.

Spent the day caching as I traveled from Steamboat Springs to Gunnison. Some were park and grabs and some were quite a ways of the beaten path. Found myself not too far from here so decided to test my luck. Found it in good shape. Thanks for the hide.

I always enjoy Team Red Rubicon caches. Perhaps that's because they are always hidden in areas I enjoy hiking to! Caches and nice areas... A great combination! It's surprising that this cache, so close to the well-traveled road to Mosquito Pass, has some long periods without being sought out. That 3-year gap between 2010 and August 2013 is a surprisingly long time of "neglect" by cache seekers. It's a neat cache in a a neat location, and it deserves attention. Thanks for this cache, Team Red Rubicon!
