!! Exciting Cache Series!!

"COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST"

The Colorado Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have 'walked' before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of them.

The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries and tombstones.

COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other 'Spirit Quest' group. Special thanks and credit are given to SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea has rapidly spread into many states.

The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It cannot be accomplished by just one or two people. This project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer cachers willing to place these caches.

After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make Colorado such a great state.

If you are interested in joining the "Walking Through History Clan" contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of "Colorado Spirit Quest #1 – Mountain Passage". Use the 'Send Message" link at the center of the page of their profile.

Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its maintenance.

REMEMBER:

If you are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries – AVOID this series.

Please note that the actual cemetery is on private land owned by the Phelps family, longtime residents of the Deckers area. You will not be able to go up to the plot but you will have a decent view from where the cache is placed. Please do not trespass on their land.

For a brief history on the Phelps family please click here!

There is a spot to park on the side of the road if you are heading up the hill from Deckers which offers a quick Cache & Dash. If you are driving down the hill please be sure to obey traffic laws, drive past the cache, and make a U-turn at the parking lot for the Cheesman Trailhead.

This road can have some moderate traffic on the weekends during the summer so please watch your step and beware of fast-moving muggles!!

Out picking up some new counties. We enjoyed the drive out from Woodland Park. Thanks for the cache signed log.

I was going past this area again this weekend so I thought I'd stop and put the old log with the cache container, and I grabbed the tb to take it traveling.

well, I didn't find the container but I Found the old log so I'm counting that, . I put it in a new plastic bag and stuck it on this wire, which is very close to the coordinates and where I thought was where the cache should maybe have been. maybe someone else can put the old log I found with the container the other person found. I should have read the previous log while I was hunting for the cache, tftc ,Happy 4th of July.

Heading back from Deckers on what I call the "Fire Highway." Spotted the cemetery from the shoulder. The geocache was not intact and there was no log. Luckily, I found the container and lid and had a spare log in my supplies. Also dropped a small trackable, to provide some incentive for the next one to come along.
