Found what I think is now serving as the cache, TFTC
06/25/2015 By WingsAndTales
I made the trek to the final today and couldn't find either the original container or the one Snailman1 left. I tried to contact the CO to get more info before going up there but got no response. For now I will try to keep this one in play. I put down a small camo'd peanut butter jar as a replacement. I think I was in the right area but there was a lot of GPS bounce. It settled down after a while and I was getting 5-10 feet to GZ with +/- 15 foot accuracy where I left the replacement. It's under the edge of a flat rock under a tree. It's worth going a little south of GZ through the gap in the boulders to see another view. I'd say the terrain rating is good for the location but you could make it a lot higher if you pick the wrong route.

I saw that the 1st stage had been replaced so I thought I would give this one a go. I found the replacement first WP and my 1st instinct was to not find the final, but I eventually changed my mind. I look at my topo map and the route I took was not the correct one. I took off from the road early and walked up the ridge. Once I arrived at the same elevation as the cache there was a sheer drop off to the South so I continued uphill. I eventually made it up and over the rock cliffs, but now I was way too high so I started my descent. When I arrived once more at the same elevation as the cache there was a rock cliff many feet high, too high for me to climb. I was only a 100 feet away, but it was still inaccessible. I continue to go down and got to point where I could not go down any further. I looked around and it looked like if I went back up 30 feet or so I might be about to swing around this huge rock face to my SW. Sure enough I made it and now I found myself a couple of hundred feet below the cache, and it looked there I could follow cracks in the rocks up. I finally made to GZ, but the containers was no where to be found. I was pretty sure I was in the right place so I went ahead and left a replacement, but I'm sure it will not last long. That was the hardest 2/4 I have ever done. Thanks for the multi!

We confirmed that the first stage is out of commission right now. As a temporary fix I left a 35mm film can containing the final coords at GZ. Look for it under a small rock at the base of a tree.

Found on accident while out hiking.

I walked by the start of this one on 04/12/13, so I stopped and put it together to see where to go. ( kind of )
I had found the one in town "Take a Peak" so it seemed straight forward to me.
I set out today to find this cache.
After I studied google maps for quite a long time trying to decide if I could make it to a good starting point for my hike up.
When I got close, I also looked across the ridge to study the rock pile and the snow in the shady spots. ( lots of it )
My route got me to within 55 feet and it was snow packed and icey the rest of the way top to GZ.
Going up was not bad, but back down was lets say a little more fun and most of the snow was at the bottom with me sitting on top of it.
The cache was not in very good shape, ( all over the place ) I gathered all I could find and added a log.
What was interesting was all the Mountain tracks on this old rock pile, you could see where it sat for a while and looked over the lower area. ( most of the tracks were at least two days old )
Just before I hit the main trail to parking, I took a break and thought about all the past hikes this year.
This one was a good finish to a fun filled 2013.
Thanks for another fun one to hunt up!

BTY: this was a very lonely cache. ;)

The pipes are still there--no coords or containers anywhere in the area. And five people were looking. So you might want to check on this one. Thanks.

I got to the sight and found the 2 pipes on the ground and several zip ties on the ground. I have an idea where the cache is at but I didn't have time to go hunt it down today. Please fix it soon or disable the cache until you do.

serious hike and a long jump to the cache but the landing took me right to it. Took the travel geocoin as winter approaches I thought I would move it to a more accessible location.

Finally was able to finish this one off today. Excellent placement requiring solid route finding. Dropping GC
