A cold and windy morning but beautifully clear! Just hopped out of the truck and made a quick grab. Lived in Aspen 1947-1972 and never made it to Hagerman Pass. Finally today and with no traffic! TFTC

Was looking for some caches as practice and for acclimatization, and this group looked perfect. Plan was to make my way to the tunnel and then see how I was feeling to decide whether to continue or not. Decided to go for the other virtual and starting at the tunnel seemed like a good place to do it. The climb up started a bit hard, but then got relatively easy along the part with lots of large rocks. Then however it got very hard being already three quarters of the way there trying to climb up the loose gravel with few rocks for hand and foot holds. Knowing from the bottom what it would be like to get up I would have had to decide not to do it. Became very easy to get around up there though so getting the traditional was no problem. Decided there was no way at all I was going down the way I came, so bushwhacked through the forest to make it to the road for a very easy hike but much longer hike down.

Didn't think I was going to make it to these caches at the start of the day, but going down the road was a great idea. Started to see a lot more people exploring this area with vehicles.

Began this geocaching trip at Turquoise Lake heading up Hagerman Pass and on to Basalt. Stopped right at the pass and walked back a little. Good coordinates made for a quick find. TFTF

I found this one with Nickgatt and my geohound, Cuervo. We drove over Hagerman Pass from Carbondale to Leadville. The weather was a bit chilly with some wind and flurries, but considering its the middle of November, we couldn't complain. TFTC SL.

@11:22:00 #26840 Killian33 and I drove from Carbondale to Leadville to find the Virtual on Hagerman Pass. The roads were pretty clear except at the top of Hagerman. TFTC

No problem for WingsAndTales and her Xterra getting up there at all and we only encountered one other vehicle. Nice spot for a cache and after our hiking adventure we sat and had lunch while enjoying the views.

There was no one around when we pulled up to the top of the pass today. We found the cache quickly and headed out to hike to some more in the area. I picked up a trackable but I'm not sure if the other one was there. the aspens are almost gone up this high but there is still enough color in the tundra to make it pretty. TFTC

Thanks to Fork L Man for placing this cache for us to find. Icezebra11 and I were getting caches along the road as well as along the Continental Divide ridge. Muggles were around while we found and signed the log but they thought we were having lunch! IN - A Canadian tooney coin and a Euro coin. OUT - TB TFTH!!!

Kenyansherpa and I met in Leadville this morning with the target being the caches near Hagerman Pass. We had a terrific day in the high country with clear skies, pleasant temps, and little wind. After parking his car at the USFS office, we headed up to the top of the pass in my pickup. The last 3 miles or so are rough but we made it ok.

After parking at the top of the pass we first headed south to get the three caches in that direction. After returning to the vehicle we made our way to this one. Two jeeps arrived at the pass and parked at the sign just before we located the cache. We sat and signed the log and traded some swag/TBs while they took their photos, oblivious to what we were doing. I retrieved the Quiver TB and left a Parks Passport TB that I've been carrying around too long. Thanks Fork_L_Man!

Cool cache, bumpy ride up from the east. I found the decoy before the cache. Dropped off a couple of trackables and traded SWAG.

Very cold and windy at the top.

TFTC.

What a fun jeep road! This was my first driving experience on real 4x4 terrain with my geo.buddy, and I think I did quite well. Great scenery up here- not too many people around either. A jeep definitely opens up a whole new world in Colorado. TFTC!
