Get ready to hike to one of the most SPECTACULAR panoramic vistas in the entire Gunnison Country! The steep uphill hike to this cache is just under a mile long, follows a trail, and is well-worth the effort! Trailriders Trail #401 starts at Schofield Pass, meanders through a dense forest dotted with small meadows full of wildflowers, and finally opens up into a true "Julie Andrews moment". The hike going up to the cache takes about 20 minutes. Elevation at the cache: 11,207'BRING YOUR CAMERA!!! When you arrive at the cache, you will have the opportunity to take in the almost 360-degree view of Mt. Bellview, Belleview Mtn., Crystal Peak, Galena Mtn., Cinnamon Mtn., Treasury Mtn., and the Maroon Bells. In mid-July, the wildflowers are gorgeous. Beware of muggles -- this is a popular trail! WEAR BUG REPELLENT!
The drive from Crested Butte to Schofield Pass can be done in a car with high clearance. SUV's are preferable, but 4WD is not necessary. The road is a well-graded dirt road, but can be rough. There are some water-bars and some narrow stretches with steep drop-offs. The road can be very dusty. Expect high traffic on the weekends -- cars and mountain-bikers. **This road is usually blocked at Emerald Lake by a snowslide, which melts out around mid-July, just in time to see the wildflowers. However, there is an alternate route to Schofield Pass.**
This cache replaces the "Bellview Treasure Hunt" multicache, which has been archived. Cache is in a small, clear plastic box with a blue rim.

07/03/2017 By Frau Potter Was hoping to make it out to this cache today, but was stopped along the trail by a snowfield. I'm writing his note so future cache hunters will know that you have to be prepared for snow in early July, or attempt it later in the summer.

08/15/2015 By MountainBear Found with Java Chip after an amazing hike up 401 from Gothic. TFTC!
08/14/2015 By Back Country Horsemen This was a nice but STEEP hike. Had plenty of mountain bikes pass us both on the way up & back down. The views were awesome & I took many pics. Many many muggles find this cache & sign the log but fortunately they are respectful & don't steal it. Looked like another cacher had found it today after a year since the last log.
09/15/2014 By cb_beauty TFTC. Awesome view up here. I had never been to this exact spot before so the hike up was well worth it.
