Engine #9, built in 1884, made its last passenger trip to Denver in 1937 and returned to Summit County in 2010 to where you enjoy in now. A steam driven, coal fueled locomotive included its own sand-drop system to maintain rail friction and a “bear-trap” spark arrester on the smoke stack to prevent starting forest fires.

Parked here and did the town center, then stopped by to check out this cache. Capt KB made the find. Not sure my little arms would have reached. Picked up a TB to move along. Still getting acclimated to the altitude. #1575 TFTC
