Three years ago The butcher got me climbing Square Top. Today I made it to the top before the butcher got me!

See spoiler photo for the distinctive rock hiding me. This was placed away from the high point and various windbreaks.

The views up here are spectacular!

EXPECT DELAYS!!! Guanella Pass road (Park County 62) will be CLOSED to the public from 8-11 am and from 1-3 pm, M-F and 30 min delays outside the closure time.

The following areas affected by construction:

CLOSED - Geneva Creek Picnic Ground (PG), Whiteside Campground (CG), Duck Creek PG and dispersed camping within the construction area along the Guanella Pass corridor and the first 1.5 miles of FSR119.
Day parking ONLY or CLOSED if Trailhead (TH) is under construction - Threemile TH, Abyss/Burning Bear TH
OPEN - Burning Bear CG and Geneva Park CG
Mt. Bierstadt/Square Top – alternative access from Georgetown.

Great cool and calm day up top with lots of fall colors below. Lines of people going up Bierstadt, but I had the summit of Squaretop to myself. TFTC

Denali41, Paul, and I had a great day hiking up to the top of Square Top. The sun was out most of the morning with just a few scattered clouds but the wind made things a little chilly when we got about 1/2 way up so we each put on and extra layer and our gloves. We were able to find all of the caches along the route except for two. One was still buried in snow and one was missing. But we replaced it with the owner's permission. Thanks sassydil for placing this nice cache!!!

icezebra11 and I hiked to the summit of Square Top this morning accompanied by a muggle friend who showed great patience while we searched out the various nice caches along our hiking route--a route defined by the sequence of caches along the way! It was truly a "sassydil day", as most of our caching objectives for our hike were her owned caches. This one, at the far end of our route, is in a superb location. Thanks for it!!!

So once again, we did not find one. But thanks to you, we went to the tippy top of the mountain! It was a tough climb for us, but we are tired and happy!
