A Saxon Mountain Cache with Hike. . .This cache is in honor of my find #250. I found #1 on Saxon Mountain. In that time, the road has gotten much rockier, my back aches more, but it is still amazingly beautiful on top of the mountain. On the south side of the summit, there is a meadow filled with beautiful downed trees.
**Take a walk to find the cache. It's not a terribly hard hike, but you are above 11,200 feet in altitude, and some rock scrambling is required. The best way to the cache is to follow a deer trail that runs along the edge of the aspen grove and the evergreen trees. Watch out for mines.
The cache is on a rock outcropping that overlooks Georgetown. If you're lucky, you might hear the Loop Railroad steam engine sounding it's way up the hill. You might even see it. . .
Riding my ATV up here last year, a song came on my iPod - it was PERFECT for the day. And it reminds me that every once in a while, someone else has something to say that's worth remembering. So when you find the cache, add a quote that you remember.
"The sun must set to rise The light will leave your eyes again Then breaking like morning's dawn Does summer feel the winter come?
And the hardest part of life Is to live while you're alive my friend So sing an unwritten song Or repent for the deeds you left undone.
This is Here. This is Now. It's the moment that we live for and we just can't live without. . . " Great Big Sea - Here and Now
09/02/2013 By jeeperz1&2 " Patience is a Virtue". Took some looking on this one as it had slid down between a couple of boulders and was tuff to reach. Good thing the log sheet was in a ziplock bag as it was the only thing in the cache that was dry! TN-LN SL. Thanx for the hide............Tony.
08/30/2011 By COpackrat I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks these roads are getting rockier and rougher... Thanks for the nice hike and cache!
