Come take a walk along either the Beaver Brook or Chavez trail to access this new ammo can of fun.  I reckon it's about a 3 mile hike one way to the cache, so bring plenty of water, snacks, and adequate footware The Chavez trail is the most direct route but has a couple of sketchy sections so please be careful!  The Beaver Brook Trail is more gradual, and only adds a little more distance to the cache.  The final quarter mile up to GZ is quite steep, so please take it slow.

Today I'm out playing with my Geocaching pals Garlic and Greasepot.  We enjoyed a wonderful  8.5 mile hike out the Chavez Trail, and returned via the Beaver Brook trail.  When I was hiding the cache, the silly name suddenly popped into my head, and the others agreed it was a worthy title.  Best to approach this cache from above, and then just a short distance off the main trail is the hiding spot.  I've also included a Spoiler picture just case anyone needs a little help, lord knows I sure do.  Have fun, and please re-hide it in the same spot.

P.S. Limited Cell Service in the park, so make sure you download coordinates ahead of time, and screen grab the spoiler pic!

Thought this was going to be a quick little excursion to drop off some TBs. Not. My first time on this trail and it took me longer than I thought it would to come down Chavez because of all the rocks. Then that nice (HA HA) uphill to get to this cache. Then I started to panic a little because I needed to get back to pick my kids up from school. I think it will be faster going back. Anyway I dropped 2 TBs (I think...at least I can't find the other one in my pack) and left a bunch of toys. TFTC!

Love this silly cache name! Garlic and I were out with the owner when this one was placed. This is one of our favorite hikes. Thanks!

RubberDuck804 in his youth and energy grabbed this one. The hike out is no joke! We slipped, we slided, and we enjoyed some phenomenal views along the way. FizBiz25 came along too and she kept up the whole time. This cache only shows up on the website for me so I relied on RubberDuck804 for the info and he told me part way through the early part of the hike about the description to bring plenty of water and snacks because the hike was pretty long. (Originally we thought it was 1.3 miles because that’s what the trail app said. ) That would have been very helpful to know while we were still at home. ??? We ran out of water and asked two separate sets of hikers if they could spare a couple ounces which they very generously shared. One of them beat us to the cars and sent another couple down with a bottle of water for us. Not sure if any of those people are fellow cachers, but I have encountered some of the most kind and loving humans while out hunting caches. We parked at the Beaver Brook trailhead off I-70 and Chief Hosa exit on Stapleton Road and took the same route as Geodog74 and crew. The Chavez trail has a few sections that get your heart racing if you aren’t a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Another option is this: if you park in this same parking lot you take the Beaver Brook trail. About 1/4 mile-ish down you will come to a fork where you can turn right to take the Chavez trail. You can continue straight on the Beaver Brook trail and get to the same place to fork off later to get to GZ as Beaver Brook is a large 5 mile loop. There are lots of pretty bridges as you crisscross along the creek on this option.

Anyway, we made some amazing memories, encountered people along the way that quite honestly saved us from a real emergency, a few adorable doggies that gave us some love AND came home with legs like spaghetti noodles. Thank you so much for getting us out here and for teaching RubberDuck804 a valuable lesson about preparation. Ooh and we saw a cool snake in the water too!
